PASTOR'S REFLECTOIN

The great irony of the Xmas celebrations

“If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on My holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable, and shall honor Him; not doing thine own ways, not finding thy own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words; then shall thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father; for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it” (Isa 58:13-14)

Although this passage is specifically addressing the sanctity of the Sabbath, I will not fail to liken the Christmas day and its celebrations, as of the same solemnity and importance, to a Christian. Christian celebrate Christmas to commemorate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, to respect and honor Him as their Saviour and Redeemer. It is a period of complete gratitude to God for all He has done and are doing for Christianity and mankind through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Beloved, it is very sad to say here that despite the number of churches and their attendant worshippers all over the world, a lot of us do not know the essence of Christmas and its celebrations. Many today are celebrating the Christmas and its holidays without knowing or respecting the very One who it is ordained for. Several of us are doing the wrong things, married to church activities and programmes that does not truly reflect the solemnity and importance of Christmas. Several carols and other activities of this period are packaged only to entertain and not to lead people to Christ.
The truth dear friends, is that the church have turned away from the essence of Christmas; Each one is doing his or her pleasure, speaking his or her own words, and only a few see this season as a holy and delightsome period unto the Lord. The fact is that Christmas day and its celebrations are not for ostentations display of wealth, worldly parties, misplaced priorities and fashions. Rather, it is a period that God requires all Christians to turn away from doing our own pleasures, acting on ways that are not in consonance with the will of God, but to delight in the honor and adoration of God.
Most assuredly, if you delight yourself in the Lord and celebrate the true essence of Christmas, the Lord shall cause you to ride the high places of the earth and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father. (Isa  58:14)
Wishing you a merry Xmas and a prosperous 2016!

HYMN

TO GOD BE THE GLORY
1. To God be the glory, great things he hath done!
So loved he the world that he gave us his Son,
who yielded his life an atonement for sin,
and opened the lifegate that all may go in.

Refrain:
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the earth hear his voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father thru Jesus the Son,
and give him the glory, great things he hath done!

2. O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
to every believer the promise of God;
the vilest offender who truly believes,
that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

3. Great things he hath taught us, great things he hath done,
and great our rejoicing thru Jesus the Son;
but purer, and higher, and greater will be
our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

PASTOR'S REFLECTION

THE CHRISTMAS RAVENS ARE ON YOUR WAY

“ And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, get thee hence, and turn thee eastward and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shall drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord; For he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith that is before Jordan. And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning and bread and flesh in the evening, and he drank of the brook” (1 Kg 17:2-6).
Beloved, it is 5 days to Christmas and eleven days to the end of the year 2015. Perhaps your expectations are still hanging and you are becoming agitated as the days draw closer, 'but let not your heart be troubled' (John 14:1).
In the passage above, the Lord God Almighty, used the ravens to meet the needs of Prophet Elijah, thus proving that He can use any strange thing or situation for the glory of His name. Please check this: The ravens were forbidden birds (Lev 11:13-15), very stingy to the extent of not feeding or caring for their young ones; The amount of food each carries is so small at a time, and they are enemies of man as they pluck and feed on human eyes – yet it pleased the Lord God to use them to feed and take care of His servant in the moment of need.
Child of God, since you are still under God's covenant of provisions through Christ, expect your Christmas ravens and their provisions. When God moves on your behalf, He will surely use anybody to bless you, even strange and uncommon situations. It happened to Elijah, it is going to happen to you this season. God will not only use strange and unexpected people to surprise you, but will amaze you through the help and blessings of your enemies in Jesus name.
Beloved, what is expected of us now as children of God is to hide by the brook (covenant coverage – Ps 91:1), drink of the brook (live by faith and by the spirit – Rom 1:17; John 7:37-39) and look out expectantly for your divine raven. Your divine raven this season could come as men, an angel or otherwise. Be watchful and keep faith.
Merry Christmas!!!

HYMN 1

JOY TO THE WORLD

Joy to the world! The Lord has come
Let earth receive her King!
Let every heart prepare Him room
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven, and heaven and nature sing

Joy to the world! the Savior reigns
Let men their songs employ
While fields and floods
Rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy

No more let sins and sorrows grow
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found.
Far as the curse is found.
As the curse is found.

HYMN 2

Away in a Manger

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.

The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.

I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle til morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.

Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And take us to heaven, to live with Thee there.

PASTOR'S REFLECTION

The Consequences of Sin
though hand join hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished; but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered”. (Prov 11:21)
Beloved, do you know that God hates sin with a fury, and anyone who willfully sins is wicked before God. Do you also know that every sin has a consequence and punishment attached to it? The truth is that every man or woman has power to choose his/her sins and call it any name to water down the gravity, but nobody has power to choose the consequences of those sins.
Everything we willfully commit sin, we run to the blood of Jesus, to take cover without knowing that the blood of Jesus only removes the condemnation and not the consequences of sin (Ps 89:30-33; 2 Sam 12:9-14). The only thing that can remove the consequences of sin is the mercy of God, but the trouble with the mercy of God is that it is not guaranteed. The scripture writes “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy (Rom 9:15). The implication is that you ask God for mercy over a sin, and He may say: “not today”. (Ps 77:7-9). It may also shock you to know that God’s mercy is not guaranteed on everyone every time, and sometimes can be conditional (2 Sam 22:26, Ps 18:25).
Again, the repercussions of the same sin committed by two different people may be completely different. For instance, if God ordains a sister to be a vessel through which a special prophet of God will be born, and that sister, by mistake, terminates the pregnancy of that special seed through abortion; the repercussion of her sin would be greater that a prostitute who commits twenty abortions of seeds for different purpose. Very often, you hear people say ‘ I don’t think what I have done is bad, after all, everybody is doing it’. You may be wrong because you might have caused more harm than anyone else who did it (1 Kg 12:28-33)
Child of God, as you enjoy the goodness this yuletide season offers, remember that God hates sin no matter the name it is given, and even if hand join hand, no sin will go unpunished.

PASTOR'S REFLECTION

All you need is in a name
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder; and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace” (Isa. 9:6)
Beloved, Isaiah's prophecy presents to us certain qualities which the name of Jesus manifests at invocation. All we need is to carefully understand the characteristics of that name, and appropriate the blessings it offers us, particularly in this yuletide season.
First, the name is Wonderful (full of wonders) – (Acts 10:38). This simply means that this season is waiting for you to bring 'that name' to bear, in faith, over all life situations, and wonderful things are bound to happen. The name of Jesus surely will cause multiple signs and wonders to follow you in this yuletide (Mk 16:17-18). Nothing truly is impossible to anyone who knows how to bring that name and its power to bear (John 14:13). Try it now!
Secondly, the name is called Counselor (full of counsel), showing you the right path to follow (Isa 30:21, Isa 50:4-5, John 5:30, Ps 32:8) and the right decisions to take. The name of Jesus releases this in abundance and only the Lord's eye can guide you in this yuletide.
Next is the Mighty God (full of might) and the might of God is manifested at the mention and application of the name of Jesus (Joel 2:4-5,7; Dan 11:32). We need the strength of God to go through the yuletide challenges.
Again, the Everlasting Father (eternal nature of God): The name of Jesus makes you possess God and be God inside-minded. To go through the yuletide without stains, you need to put on Jesus completely by invoking His name (Rom 13:14, 1 Cor 1:30)
Then, the Prince of Peace (full of peace): The name of Jesus invokes total peace and we need it to go through this yuletide (John 14:27). Only the name of Jesus can give you peace of mind and victory over fear and anxiety (Ex 14:14)
The Lord Jesus got the greatness and power of His name – by prophecy (Matt 1:21, Acts 4:12, Isa 11:1-2); by conquest (Heb 2:14-15; Col 2:15); by inheritance (Heb 1:4-5) and by obedience (Phil 2:9-11)
Child of God, by the finished work of Calvary, every believer is made a 'joint heir' with Christ. He has given us His name to do exploits, to possess, to do good and change situations. In this yuletide, bring His name to bear in every situations, and experience a testimony-filled season.

Merry Christmas to you!!!

Great Redeemer Lord and Master

To the cross of sin and shame
Thou didst come to die a ransom
Guilty sinners to reclaim

Come O come immortal Savior
Come and take Thy royal throne
Come and reign and reign forever
Be the kingdom all Thine own

HYMN 3

BLESSED SAVIOUR, WHAT SHALL WE BRING
The wise may bring their learning,
The rich may bring their wealth,
And some may bring their greatness,
And some their strength and health:
We too would bring our treasures
To offer to the King,
We have no wealth or learning—
What shall we children bring?

Blessed Saviour, what shall we bring(3x)
To offer to the Lord

We’ll bring Him hearts that love Him,
We’ll bring Him thankful praise,
And young souls meekly striving
To follow in His ways:
And these be the treasures
We offer to the King,
And these are gifts that ever
The poorest child may bring.

We’ll bring the little duties
We have to do each day;
We’ll try our best to please Him
At home, at school, at play:
And better are these treasures
To offer to the King
Than richest gift without them:
Yet these a child may bring.

PASTOR'S REFLECTION

What have you done for God?
“I gave my life for you, My precious blood I shed that I might redeem you; And quicken you from the dead; I gave my life for you; what have you given Me?”
“I suffered much for you; more than your tongue call tell; of bitterest agony; to rescue you from hell; I suffered much for you; what can you bear for me?”
Beloved, the Lord asked us two questions here, one, pertaining to what you have done, and another on what you are prepared to do for Him and His kingdom. I see this cry of the Lord as simply a call to every child of God to define his/her relationship with God. It is clearly obvious that the Lord does not encourage a one-sided relationship where just one partner pours out all that sustains the relationship.
Apostle Paul, long ago, personally answered the Lord, and defined his relationship with God:
“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ; Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the Excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord; for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.” (Phil 3:7-8)
Today, the Lord is waiting for my answer and yours. If we don't answer Him now, sooner or later we will do, either here or in the other divide. I make bold to ask you, child of God, as I have asked myself severally, what have you done for God or His kingdom? What can you bear for Christ, who bored so much for you? The truth is that no person was ever honored for what he received, rather honor has been the reward of what he gave (Calvin Coolidge, former American President).
To help you answer these questions raised by the Lord, identify the gains of yesterday, you have counted dung for Christ and the loss of things you have suffered for Christ, to advance God's kingdom. What burdens are you carrying today for Christ, for the glory of His name on earth?
Child of God, if you cannot identify anything of substance, you still have time today to begin to make amends. It requires a total surrendering of your life to Him and now is the acceptable time.

PASTOR'S REFLECTION

Is your name written in the Lord's book of life?

“And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through Thy name; And He said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven; Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you, but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven” (Lk 10:17-20)
Beloved, the danger in the Christendom is this: the devils may subject themselves unto you in the name of Jesus Christ, Satan may fall at your feet by the power of God, you may tread on serpents and scorpions and even over all the power of the enemy unhurt through God; yet, your name may be missing in the Lamb's book of life (Matt. 7:21-23, Lk 13:25-27). It has happened before and it is still happening now. The same, the Lord Jesus Christ said unto His disciples several thousand years ago, is what He is saying to us today. 'A stitch in time saves nine.'
In the above passage, the Lord made it very clear that miracles, signs and wonders, casting out demons, church positions, titles, testimonies, church politics, etc are good, but not the joy of a Christian. It is therefore very dangerous to rejoice over the additions at the expense of the most important. Unfortunately today, many of us are pursuing the mundane so vigorously not minding whether or not our names are written in heaven.
Child of God, have you asked God at anytime if your name is written in heaven? The truth is that until you hear from God, don't assume anything. Again, even when God confirms to you today that your name is included, it is also very advisable to go back to Him from time to time to check as names could be deleted (Ex 32:33; 2 Tim 4:10). Do you know that all those the Lord denied knowing in Matt. 7:21-23; Lk 13:25-27, were among the well-fed, well-taught, who had daily eaten spiritual bread and drank spiritual water in the presence of the Lord? Do you know they were the generals of Christ in the eyes of the world?
So what was their mistakes? They did not inquire from the Lord if their names were there, nor did they consistently examine themselves (2 Cor. 13:5), rather, they went about doing mighty works in His name. What happened to them is a lesson to help us (1 Cor. 10:11-12). If your name is not written there, all the noise, positions, bible study, church meetings and fellowship, and in fact, your coming to the world would be in vain. Judas Iscariot learnt his lessons too late (Matt 27:3-10). May you and I never make the same mistakes in Jesus name!

Pastor K. Nzeh.

HYMN 2

There’s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus
1
There’s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus:
  No, not one! no, not one!
None else could heal all our souls’ diseases:
  No, not one! no, not one!

Refrain:
Jesus knows all about our struggles;
  He will guide ’til the day is done:
There’s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus:
    No, not one! no, not one!
2
No friend like Him is so high and holy,
  No, not one! no, not one!
And yet no friend is so meek and lowly,
  No, not one! no, not one!
3
There’s not an hour that He is not near us,
  No, not one! no, not one!
No night so dark, but His love can cheer us,
  No, not one! no, not one!
4
Did ever saint find this Friend forsake him?
  No, not one! no, not one!
Or sinner find that He would not take him?
  No, not one! no, not one!
5
Was e’er a gift like the Savior given?
  No, not one! no, not one!
Will He refuse us the bliss of heaven?
  No, not one! no, not one!

HYMN 1

AMAZING GRACE
    Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
    That saved a wretch like me!
    I once was lost, but now am found;
    Was blind, but now I see.

   ’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
    And grace my fears relieved;
    How precious did that grace appear
    The hour I first believed.

 Through many dangers, toils and snares,
    I have already come;
   ’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
    And grace will lead me home.

   The Lord has promised good to me,
    His Word my hope secures;
    He will my Shield and Portion be,
    As long as life endures.

   Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
    And mortal life shall cease,
    I shall possess, within the veil,
    A life of joy and peace.

   The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
    The sun forbear to shine;
    But God, who called me here below,
    Will be forever mine.

   When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
    Bright shining as the sun,
   We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
    Than when we’d first begun.

PASTOR'S REFLECTION - 8TH OCTOBER, 2015

We brought nothing to the world

“And Job said: Naked came I out of  my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither” (Job 1:21; Eccl 5:15)
“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we carry nothing out” (1 Tim 6:7)
Beloveth, I do not know how well you understood the scriptures above. I believe that the parable of the fox will make you understand it better. 'several years ago, a certain poultry farmer fenced his poultry with barb wires to protect it from dangerous wild animals, but mistakenly left a small hole in the fence. One day, a lean and hungry-stricken fox gained entrance into the poultry through that small hole and began to feed daily on the chickens and the eggs, thereby depleting the flock. It did not take long for the fox to become very fat and her activities noticeable in the place. This situation prompted the owner of the poultry to put measures in place to trap the intruder, and the fox realizing that her life was in great danger decided to escape through the same small hole. Unfortunately, she could not, as she has became too fat for the hole that allowed her entrance a few months ago. Desperate to escape death or capture, she resorted to dry fasting and hiding in a dark corner, and after about a week, she returned back to her original size (lean and hungry-stricken) and was able to escape through the small hole.
The scriptures above and the story of the fox, makes it very clear to us that everything we acquire in this world will be left there. Nothing here is worth losing our eternal life for. Like the wise old fox, it is time for us to understand that the world we are in is completely fenced with traps for our souls (1 Jhn 2:15-17) and the princes of this world desperately seeketh whom to devour (1 Pt 5:8; Job 1:7)
What then is the way of escape? Child of God, learn from the wise fox – as a matter of urgency, begin to shed every unnecessary weight that would not allow you walk pass the strait gate through the narrow way (Matt 7:14; Luk 13:24; Heb 11:13-16). Then set your affection above and not on things on the earth (Col 3:1-2). Let this be your watch word: “I brought nothing into this world, and I will carry nothing out of it.”            Pastor K. PRAYER BULLETS - 8TH OCTOBER 2015

Psalm 113: In Praise of the Lord's Goodness
1.Praise ye the Lord. Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.
2 Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and for evermore.
3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's name is to be praised.
4 The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high,
6 Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!
7 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;
8 That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.
9 He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

WORSHIP HYMN 3 - 8TH OCTOBER, 2015

PRAISE MY SOUL THE KING OF HEAVEN

    Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven;
    To His feet thy tribute bring.
    Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
    Evermore His praises sing:
    Praise Him, praise Him,
    Praise the everlasting King.

    Praise Him for His grace and favor
    To our fathers in distress;
    Praise Him still the same as ever,
    Slow to chide, and swift to bless.
    Praise Him, praise Him,
    Glorious in His faithfulness.

Fatherlike He tends and spares us,
    Well our feeble frame He knows;
    In His hands He gently bears us,
    Rescues us from all our foes.
    Praise Him, praise Him,
    Widely yet His mercy flows.

Frail as summer’s flow’r we flourish,
    Blows the wind and it is gone;
    But while mortals rise and perish,
    Our God lives unchanging on.
    Praise Him, praise Him,
    Praise the high Eternal One!

Angels, help us to adore Him,
    Ye behold Him face to face;
    Sun and moon, bow down before Him;
    Dwellers all in time and space,
    Praise Him, praise Him,
    Praise with us the God of grace.

Pastor's Reflection for 1st November

PASTOR'S REFLECTION

The burning bush and its lessons to a child of God
“Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even horeb.
And the angel of the lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire and the bush was not consumed.
And Moses sais, I will turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses; And he said, here am I.” – Ex 3:1-4
The phenomenal story of the 120yrs of the life of Moses can be broken into three parts; He lived the first 40yrs of his life thinking that he was somebody (Ex 2:11-13); another 40yrs discovering that he was a nobody (Ex 2:14-21); and the last 40yrs, he witnessed what God can do with somebody that was a nobody (Ex 7:1; 4:17; 24:1-2; 34:28-35)
It was therefore at this second stage of his life that he encountered God at Mount Horeb and the lesson is that only at the mountain of God can encounters of great substance be possible (Oba 1:17; Gen 28:10-19). Again, until one becomes a nobody before God, and count all gain as loss for Christ, certain divine revelations and encounters may not be possible (1 Cor 1:26-29; Phil 3:7-8; Heb 11:24-27)
What did the lord use the burning bush to tell Moses? The first was the persecution and trial state of the Israelites. God practically demonstrated to Moses that although the people of Israel were going through severe fire of affliction, oppression and adversity in the hands of the Egyptians, they will not be consumed such as the bush burned with fire but could not be consumed. More importantly, the lord used that encounter to tell Moses about the future church of God – that the church and indeed every true child of God would suffer persecution, trials and oppression in the world but would not be consumed (Isa 43:2; Jhn 16:33). The devil and his co-hosts will use the fire of adversity and much more, to compel many to give up but the church shall not be consumed (Matt 16:18; Jhn 1:5) Allelluia!!
Beloved, what is happening to you now, be it affliction, oppression, suffering, troubles, delays and adversities, was indeed revealed over thousands of years ago, and cannot consume you as long as you remain in God. The nation of Israel went through it, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (Dan3:23-30); Daniel (Dan 6:16-23), etc all did and came out stronger and better. You will surely come out of that situation with a testimony to the glory of God in Jesus name.
However, child of God, make sure that you are always at the mountain of God (a good bible teaching and believing church) and like Habakkuk, watch daily to see what He will say or show to you (Hab 2:1) and in the scriptures (word of God) and be quick to answer him when He calleth (Ex 3:4)
Look around you, there is something He has been calling your attention to, all that is required of you is “turn aside to see”. For it could be a life-challenging encounter.
